Sourced: Cornish & Carey, Newmark merging

This news has been pending for quite some time, apparently the Business Times thought it was solid enough to report on. Full article is available here.

Cornish & Carey Commercial officials announced Wednesday they will merge their operations in Northern California with Newmark Knight Frank beginning Sept. 7.

“A significant piece of our current growth strategy is to strengthen our presence in regional markets,” Barry M. Gosin, Newmark Knight Frank CEO said in a statement. “We have been looking for a long time for the right West Coast partner to match our strength in the East and Cornish & Carey, with its strength in Silicon Valley and Northern California, is a perfect compliment for us.”

We’ll see how this all pans out but typically when large brokerage mergers happens like this in the industry, there is a lot of movement / deflection to other firms.
