Sourced: “Chain-store rules fetter San Francisco economy”

From The Business Times / San Francisco (linked here):

“Pet Food Express lost its bid, filed in August, to lease the 7,200 square feet Blockbuster left vacant on Lombard Street in the Marina district, despite having three times more community supporters than opponents at the hearing, said its broker, Matt Holmes of Retail West.

Black Fleece, a new retail concept from Brooks Brothers with just one other store open in New York, is facing trouble on Fillmore Street in Pacific Heights, where it signed a lease back in June. There could also be looming fights over plans to open a Trader Joe’s in the Castro and for CVS, which is actively seeking new San Francisco locations.”
